CNN Grill – Charlotte 2012
The CNN Grill has become a staple at every major national political convention since 2004— serving as a full-service restaurant, broadcast studio and hospitality hub, creating a commanding presence at the intersection of food, politics, and entertainment.
Transform an existing restaurant into the CNN Grill. Re-Branded beer from a local brewery as the CNN Brew. Event setup and support.
During the 2012 national conventions, the CNN Grills hosted 75+ hours of live programming, 39 private events, 10,000+ guests and was an ad sales blockbuster for CNN.
In 2012, CNN and Google teamed up to create a pop-up restaurant at the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. Their goal was to be a central meeting spot for live political coverage and innovative technology. We were asked to develop the brand identity for the Grill, as well as a wide variety of assets, including signage, uniforms, beer labels, and menus. A main challenge was to present both CNN and Google in an equal and bipartisan manner throughout the experience.
